We love what Damon Albarn has done with Gorillaz over the past two albums, but the first album, with Dan the Automator at the producer’s desk, had a more raw, experimental hip-hop element to it, more like Handsome Boy Modeling School than pop stardom of the latter Danger Mouse and self-produced projects years later. “Tomorrow Comes Today” always embodied a great creative moment for both Albarn and Automator, and it really got us into the left-field nature of Gorillaz. Enjoy.
